Stawell Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced its intentions to take on a whole new focus in the future.
Chamber secretary Amber Mitchell said the executive was looking forward to support at its annual general meeting next Monday night, where the new vision for Stawell would be unveiled.
``The chamber is looking to take on a whole new focus, with the aim being to continue providing assistance to existing businesses and also working with the Northern Grampians Shire Council to attract new businesses,'' Mrs Mitchell said.
``Obviously the McDonald's announcement was huge for Stawell and we really want to keep the ball rolling.''
Part of the new vision for the chamber is for it to take on more of a leadership role, overseeing smaller committees that would focus on tourism, manufacturing and events.
``We would love to see the formation of a Main Street traders group, a manufacturing group and a tourism group that would all work under the umbrella of the chamber,'' she said.
``If these sectors want to be more involved, this is the ideal opportunity. The smaller groups would work on developing new ideas for their sector and arranging events.
``The chamber would be able to focus on the bigger picture, things like lodging grant applications and working with the council to help existing businesses expand and to also attract new businesses to the town.''
Mrs Mitchell said the chamber was hoping to attract new membership at its meeting on Monday, particualrly people who are new to business and definitely more traders from Main Street.
``We really want to build on this new vision for Stawell and to do that, we need fresh faces and fresh ideas on the executive,'' Mrs Mitchell said.
The chamber's annual general meeting will be held on Monday, July 7, at the Stawell Entertainment Centre foyer at 7pm.
