Navarre joint coaches Damien Scott and Ben Martin are confident the Grasshoppers can maintain their place inside the Lexton Plains Football League top five just six rounds out from the finals series.
The Grasshoppers, who opened up a four point gap on sixth placed Illabarook with Saturday's win over Natte-Bealiba, have a rather good run home to the finals.
After taking on Skipton tomorrow, they will meet Illabarook before tough clashes with Carngham-Linton and Rokewood-Corindhap in the following weeks. However, it will round off the home and away season with matches against Ararat Eagles and Lexton, teams they have already beaten in 2008.
Scott, who put together arguably his best game of the season on Saturday, said a win tomorrow would do their finals aspirations the world of good.
``If we can topple Skipton we really only need one more win to cement it (a finals spot),'' Scott said.
``Ben and I are both confident of holding fourth or fifth spot.''
Scott said the team would welcome back Ben Crichton tomorrow after he missed Saturday's win over Natte due to car troubles. Heath Hemley remains a chance of returning after having a rib taken out, but Luke Notting will remain on the sidelines after re-injuring his knee.
Scott said he was confident of rolling the Emus tomorrow after a sluggish first term and a lapse in the third cost them any chance of success in round five, going down by 41 points.
``I think that we are a realistic chance as far as beating them,'' he said.
``With our starts getting better, we should give it a fair old shake, especially at home.''
Navarre's young bridge such as Louis Hannett and Nic Murphy have led from the front all year and the future appears bright with players such as Rhett Murphy, Ash Driscoll, Andy Leithhead and Dom Rhoden all stepping up the the senior squad in recent weeks.
Illabarook is at home to Ararat Eagles, with both coming off a loss last week.
The Bulldogs have been playing catch up football lately, and will need to start positively or face the possibility of being the Eagles second victim for the year.
Jason Marnell provided a target up forward last week, while Brad Vagg was a welcomed inclusion to the side.
Ararat will again need to work through another big loss last Saturday.
All the good work over the past fortnight was undone, but they have played some good games at Smythesdale in the past.
If the right Eagles team turns up, they could provide Illabarook with a tough contest.
Natte-Bealiba travels to Rokewood, with the Swans finals chances diminishing each week.
If they do not make finals, they will be the first team to not make the top five in the year following a grand final berth.
Natte-Bealiba will not want to be the first, but may have to face reality.
Carngham-Linton and Lexton have had some interesting results in the past, but this one could be a little onesided if last week is anything to go by.
Despite a win, Lexton still appeared to be below what Carngham-Linton will dish up.
