Fourball multiplier

Lyn Willcock and Kaye Skinner partnered one another to victory at the Stawell Golf Club on Wednesday.

The pair shot 59 points to win the day's fourball multiplier by one point over Pauline Cowen and Laura Martin.

Willcock also grabbed a nearest the pin on the ninth hole, with Joyce Hall (13th) and Cowen (17th) the other winners.

Albert and Nina Houston sponsored the day.

A draw for partners will be used for tomorrow's pairs medley.

Montgomery burnsLes Montgomery found some of his better form to win the Stawell Golf Club R&B stableford event last week.

Montgomery did require a countback to get the spoils after finishing level on 36 points with runner up Ryan Gardner.

Col Apelgren was third on 33 points in a countback.

Jim Freebairn (19) and Jamie Solyom (17) won respective best nine out and best nine in awards, while Randall Bacon (ninth) and George Hall (Stawell Motel 13th) won nearest the pins.

Bill Dempsey was the card draw winner. Twenty-seven players rolled out for competition.

Entries for today's stableford will be taken between 11am and 11.30am.

Grand final time

Magpies and Saints will fight out tomorrow night's Stawell Interchurch Netball Association 14 and under premiership honours.

Saints won their way into tomorrow night's decider with a 17-9 victory over Cats in the preliminary final.

Results11 and under - Bombers 5 (Chelsea Chatfield) d Tigers 0 (Kasey Mornane); Hawks 8 (Jessie Cowen) d Lions 2 (Casey Rickard).

14 and under - Saints 17 (Eloise Tapscott) d Cats 9 (Meg Walker).

Draw11 and under - Round robin crt1/crt 2 at 5.10pm. Followed by presentations.

14 and under - Grand final: Magpies vs Saints 6pm. Crt 2. Umpires: Debbie Bach/Kristine Horrocks.

Cooper does it again

Joanne Cooper has again taken the honours in the Grange Golf Club ladies event.

Cooper, who dominated the previous week's event, won with a round of 83-12-71 over Trudy Hall (83-10-73).

Hall was runner up after beating Rosemary Perry (94-21-73) in a countback.

Eunice Balle wrapped up the final round silver spoon honours with her 94-20-74.

A two person ambrose is on the cards this Thursday with a draw to be used for partners.

Petanque tournament

The Grampians Petanque Club Spring Doubles Tournament will be held on Saturday, September 6.

This event will draw players from Victoria and South Australia to Halls Gap to compete for a share of the generous prize pool.

Entry fee is $10 per player ($20 per team) for the full day's competition.

Qualifying rounds will be played to 11 points, finals to 13 points.

Entry fee for the afternoon social event is $5 per player.

The fun starts on Friday night with the traditional French-themed welcome dinner at the Quarry Restaurant.

Guests are asked to dress in French attire and enjoy French music all night. There will be a three course set menu choice of entree, main and dessert with tea and coffee. There are also many local wines to choose from.

The dinner will be charged at $40 per head.
